Leading our next chapter is the Voice team. As a dynamic track, we bring together multiple teams across Research, Product Engineering and Design. Together, we are defining the art of the possible for real-time voice interpretation.
Founded just two years ago, we achieved a significant milestone in late 2024 with the successful launch of our first customer-facing features. We are now scaling up with applications designed for major meeting platforms, real-time communication channels, and a powerful Public API to extend our functionality to a broader set of applications.
Your responsibilities
The core purpose of the Engineering Manager role is to develop a product engineering team to an autonomous, high performing stage:
Own the Business Outcome: You are accountable for the end-to-end success of your product area. Your role extends beyond technical delivery to own the ultimate business outcomes—driving customer adoption, satisfaction, and performance metrics by leading decisions across engineering, product, design, and user experience.
Build a Team of Product Owners: Your primary mandate is to build and lead an empowered team that thinks like customers. You will foster a culture where engineers take full ownership of the business impact of their work, deeply understanding user problems and contributing to the entire product lifecycle from ideation to post-launch support.
Scale the Organization: Act as a foundational leader for the future of DeepL Voice. You are hired not just to lead one team, but to build the blueprint for success and scale your leadership to build and oversee multiple teams as our product catalog and organization grow.
What We Look For
You are a product-obsessed leader who thinks like a general manager and has a strong engineering foundation. Your track record shows you don't just manage projects; you own business outcomes. You thrive on building empowered, customer-focused teams that drive a business forward.
A proven track record of owning a product's success, with demonstrable experience influencing product strategy, design, and UX decisions.
Experience scaling an engineering organization with a clear vision for future growth and developing other leaders.
Direct experience or deep understanding of the Voice AI, Speech, or NLP domains is highly preferred.
An obsession with the entire customer journey, from initial design to post-launch support and iteration.
